Question: What value lies in news sources?  Why would a researcher choose a newspaper or magazine over a book or scholarly journal article?

Answer: News sources can be great resources for local information.  They can supply names, dates, facts and figures, along with quotes. Ultimately, news sources are valuable for their immediacy, recording events as they happen.

The Library now offers access to the The New York Times Online. Temple faculty, staff, and students can register for access using their @temple.edu email address.

• Unlimited access to the digital edition of The New York Times 
• Once registered, faculty/staff have four years of full account access, after which they must re-authenticate by visiting accessnyt.com
• Students have access until 12/31 of their selected graduation year
• Learn more about Temple's New York Times Online access

• Place quotation marks around names and phrases. This will force the database to search for those exact words. (ie. "Kamala Harris")

• Limit your search to a specific region/state/publication (ie. Pennsylvania, The Philadelphia Inquirer)

• Limit your search to a specific timeframe (ie. past year, past month, 2020-2023)
