Researching objects in a museum. Step-by-step.

Search Tips

DID YOU FOLLOW STEPS 1and 2?

 Search Tips:

  • Search for books by artist, movement, period, and other keywords.
  • Do NOT search for books by the title of your art object.
  • Do NOT panic if you cannot find information about your specific object. Discussing your object as it relates to similar objects of the same style, period, location, artist is legitimate.
  • NOTE: You have to go to the library and look inside the books to know if your object or related objects are discussed.

Example search terms for my object on the left:

  • Cezanne = Artist/Creater
  • Impressionism, Early 20th century, Landscape = Movement/Style/Period
  • France = Location/Region
  • Painting = Medium
  • French = Culture/Religion/Reign
