Historical Abstracts: Search Demo

This 1-minute video clip demonstrates how to search Historical Abstracts for a scholarly journal article. Type each of your search terms (or phrases) into one of the a blank text box. Note that boxes are connected by the Boolean operator "AND". The AND operator instructs the search engine to return only documents that contain all search terms. Two search terms (or "keywords") are used in this clip:

Search Term #1: SU Africa

SU stands for subject. Placing SU before the search term ensures that only documents containing Africa in the subject field will be retrieved.

Search Term #2: "political integration"

The use of quotes ensures that only documents with the exact phrase - "political integration" - are returned.
