Assignment #1: Memoir of a Middle Eastern / North African Woman

For this assignment you have been asked to read and then report on a Middle Eastern memoir assigned by Dr. Freidenreich. In other words, you must choose from a bibliography of memoirs carefully and critically selected (or vetted) by the professor.

Good researchers learn how to evaluate  sources, selecting out only those which are relevant and useful to the historical questions under consideration. This is exactly what your professor has done in choosing these particular memoirs for your assignment. Compiling such a list is not an easy task. You will have the opportunity to create an annotated bibliography for Assignment #3.
