Zotero Introduction
Zotero is a free citation manager that works as an add-on (plugin) for the Firefox (v.3+) web browser. Its integration with your web browser makes it easy to save citations from a wide range of resources, including webpages and most databases.
Among Zotero's many features are:
- Automatic download of pdfs associated with a citation.
- Automatic download of a "snapshot" of the webpage associated with a citation.
- Dynamic drag and drop interface, including sorting and quick citations (drag a citation into an email or other web page).
- User tagging.
- Add notes to citations.
- Full-text searching.
- Automatically proxy urls for easy off-campus access to resources.
- Available in over 30 languages.
- Integration with MSWord and Open Office word processors.
Be aware, that unlike RefWorks, Zotero requires a download of the browser plugin, and is thus, not usable on public access computers (computer labs, library, TECH center, etc.) Zotero will sync citations across computers (so you can have your citations stored on multiple computers).
Zotero is not recommended for students who do their research on public computers.
