Temple University Libraries provide online access to the following news sources from Latin America, the Caribbean, and Iberia:

  • Access World News  
      
    Full-text from over 1,400 U.S. and international newspapers. The unique map interface enables users to quickly and easily target any search to a single title, all titles in a country or a continent, the entire collection, or any customized grouping.
  • Latin American Newspapers   
    A component of the World Newspaper Archive, this preliminary release currently includes over 150,000 pages of historical newspapers from Latin America. Click "i" for more information about titles available.
  • LexisNexis Academic  
      
    Search thousands of full-text, general-interest newspapers and magazines. Click red "News" tab. Choose "Portuguese Language News Combined" or "Spanish Language News, Combined" inside Sources dropdown box.
  • Library PressDisplay   
      
    Temple-only database provides most recent 60 days of over 300 newspapers from around the world. The newspapers include the same content and are in the same format as the print edition of the newspaper, including full-color where applicable.
  • World News Connection  
      
    Non-US media sources in translation. Covers multiple topics and all regions of the world including Latin America and the Caribbean.

The following Temple databases index and in many cases provide full-text access to the peer-reviewed journal literature, i.e. secondary literature, of Latin American and Caribbean Studies.

  • AccessUN  
    AccessUN is a commercially published index to United Nations documents and publications. It indexes resolutions, treaties, and UN periodicals and includes some full text. Covers the years 1945 to date.
  • America: History & Life  
      
    Provides article abstracts for 1,700+ scholarly journals (1964-date) that focus on the history of the region now occupied by the United States and Canada from prehistoric times to the present. Quite useful for researching the history of Hispanics in North America. Search for the phrase "hispanic americans" to see over 1,600 citations to articles containing that phrase.

  • Caribbean Index (CARINDEX)  
      
    "CARINDEX is an [free] index to the contents of [about 70] West Indian journals, published in the Caribbean region. It also includes theses, papers presented at conferences, collections of working papers, etc." Note: Temporarily unavailable.
  • Chicano Database  
      
    A comprehensive index to the literature of Chicano Studies; provides selected coverage from the early 1900s through the 1960s, and complete coverage from the 1960s to the present.
  • Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades de America Latina (ISOC)  
      
    Indexes 20 Spanish journals (published in Spain) on Latin American topics, including history. Made available for free from Spain's Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas.
  • Citas Latinoamericanas en Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades (CLASE) y Periodica  
      
    Indexes 2,600 journal titles and other scholarly materials in the social sciences, humanities, sciences, and technology fields.
  • Consejo Latinoamericano de Ciencias Sociales (CLACSO)  
      
    CLACSO, a network of 224 social sciences institutions in 21 Latin American and Caribbean countries, has teamed up with RedALyC (see below) to provide free online access to 83 full-text social sciences journals published in Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • Foreign Broadcast Information Service (FBIS) Daily Reports, 1974 - 1996  
    FBIS is an important digital archive of full-text translations of foreign news sources from all areas of the world including Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • Handbook of Latin American Studies (HLAS)  
      
    Perhaps the most important index to scholarly Latin American Studies works including journal articles, reference books, book chapters, and conference proceedings. Covers social sciences and humanities disciplines.
  • Hispanic American Periodicals Index (HAPI)  
      
    This database indexes over 400 critical periodicals in Latin American Studies. It focuses on all aspects of contemporary Latin American culture, including the border regions shared by Mexico and the United States.
  • JSTOR  
      
    JSTOR is the premier scholarly journal database. It provides full-text access to sixteen Latin American Studies journals including Latin American Studies and Hispanic American Historical Review.
  • LatBook - Base de Datos de Libros y Revistas Argentinas de la Libreria Garcia Cambeiro  
      
    This open-access database indexes hundreds of Argentine and Brazilian books and periodicals.
  • Latin American Periodicals Table of Contents (LAPTOC)  
      
    Provides access to the Table of Contents of 950 Latin American periodicals. A component of the Latin Americanist Research Resources Project (LARRP), University of Texas at Austin. Although this labor of love is said to cover the widest range of disciplinary thought in the humanities and social sciences emanating from Latin America, in reality for far too many titles TOC work has either ceased altogether or was frozen in the 2005-2007 range.
  • MLA International Bibliography  
    MLA indexes journal articles, books and dissertations back to 1963. It provides over 1.5 million citations from more than 4,400 journals and series and over 1,000 book publishers. MLA International Bibliography is by far the most important database for language and literature studies.
  • Project MUSE  
      
    Project MUSE, a joint venture of the Johns Hopkins University Press and the Milton S. Eisenhower Library, makes possible worldwide networked access to the full text of the Press's scholarly journals. Covers journal literature published since 1995.
  • Red de Revistas Cientificas de America Latina y el Caribe, Espana y Portugal (RedALyC)  
      
    Offers the complete text of over 20,000 articles from 200 journals. Title coverage includes Revista Brasileira de Historia, Revista Mexicana del Caribe, and Signo Historicos, among others.
