  • Philosopher's Index  
      
    Most authoritative database for the discipline of philosophy.
  • Religion and Philosophy Collection  
      
    This is a subset of Academic Search Premier.
  • Poiesis  
      
    A full-text database of many small philosophy journals, most of which are not available online from anywhere else.
  • Blackwell Reference: Philosophy  
      
    Blackwell's excellent companions, guides, and dictionaries. Great for topic overviews and ideas for further research.
  • Cambridge Companions Online  
      
    A database featuring hundreds of the renowned Cambridge Companions on philosophy, religion, culture, literature and classics.

Find Philosophy Articles in Multidisciplinary Databases

The following databases are good sources of philosophy articles.  Philosopher's Index and Poiesis are the ones devoted soley to the discipline of philosophy.
  • Academic Search Premier  
      
    Huge multidisciplinary database. Provides lots of coverage of philosophy and related disciplines. Over 4500 journals in full-text.
  • Blackwell Compass  
      
    Provides survey articles on philosophy, religion, literature, history, language and literature, and more.
  • FRANCIS (International Humanities & Social Sciences)  
      
    Produced in France, this database offers very good international coverage of philosophy, literature, linguistics, religion, sociology, and more.
  • HIstory of Science, Technology, and Medicine  
      
    Definitive database for history of science, technology, and medicine. Covers the literature from 1975 to present.
  • JSTOR  
      
    Vast multidisciplinary e-journal collection. Some articles from as far back as the 17th century. Major source for philosophy articles.
  • Periodicals Index Online  
      
    Huge humanities and social sciences database that covers journals going all the way back to 1665. Good international coverage.
  • Web of Science  
      
    Search it like a regular database for philosophy articles, or do a cited reference search. Web of Science is made up of three smaller databases: Arts & Humanities Citation Index; Social Sciences Citation Index; and Science Citation Index.
  • Wilson OmniFile  
      
    Collection of databases, two of which (Humanities & Social Science Retrospective, and Reader's Guide Retrospective) are very important for coverage of the period from 1900 to 1950.
