Databases
One way to find articles is to use research databases that index and describe articles which makes it easier to search for them. The databases often provide the text of the article or a way to find the article through other library sources.
The two primary databases for psychology are:
PsycINFO (via EBSCOhost | via Ovid)
Most comprehensive tool for finding sources in psychology.
(EBSCOhost and Ovid are different companies that supply the same content but have different search features.) Contains citations and summaries of journal
articles, book chapters, books and technical reports, as well as citations
to dissertations.
Best tool for finding articles in scholarly journals that scholars refer to most. This searches a smaller number of journals than PsycINFO, but the sources are all selected on the basis of their impact on scholarly publishing, so you can be confident about the quality of the publication. This is an excellent tool for tracking down who has used a paper in their own research.
