The HTC Vive is a virtual reality system developed jointly between Valve Corporation and HTC. It uses room-scale technology to track users' positions within 3D space.
The Innovation Space at Ginsburg Health Sciences Library has a variety of medical VR applications:
- Organon 3D Anatomy - A virtual anatomy viewer that allows users to take anatomy apart and view annotations, intended for study; created bt the University of Brisbane, Australia
- Guided Mediation - A relaxation aide, intended for therapeutic purposes; created by Cubicle Ninja
- YOU by Sharecare - A virtual anatomy viewer that goes inside the body and features the ability to control the transparency of layers of the anatomy, as well as view animated, 3D treatments for a variety of conditions
- Medical Holodeck - A DICOM viewer for CT and MRI scan data, that renders the views in 3D space and allows for editing and annotation
- Physiology of the Eye - An anatomy app that focuses on the eyes
Additionally, the Innovation Space has a number of other educational software patrons can experience with the Vive:
- Nanome - An app that lets users manipulate atoms, molecules, and other small particles in a chemically-realistic simulation
- Google Earth VR - An app that uses Google satellite imagery and Google Maps data to allow users to travel nearly anywhere in the world
- Masterpiece VR - An app that lets users create 3D models in VR that can be immediately exported for 3D printing
