Fred Rowland - Librarian: Welcome

Fred Rowland's primary responsibility is to provide research support to the students, faculty and staff in the Economics, Greek & Roman Classics, Philosophy, and Religion departments  at Temple University. This means he makes sure the Libraries have the resources you need for your projects, and he makes sure you know how to find these resources and how to use them.

More About Fred

Before coming to his current position, Fred served as a science librarian at Temple University. He came to Temple University after many years as a bookseller in retail and academic bookstores. 

Fred is the book review editor of portal: Libraries and the Academy.

He really likes his job because it is fun helping people find information. Each patron is a new opportunity to learn something!

Education

  • B.A. in German Literature, minor in Economics: University of Virginia, 1981
  • M.L.S. in Library Science: Drexel University, 2001
  • M.B.A. in Business Administration: Temple University, 2005

Languages

  • Reads German
  • Working knowledge of French and Spanish
  • Two years of college Greek and Latin

Current Interests

  • Playing ice hockey and baseball, walking, reading and thinking
