R is a free software environment for statistical computing and graphics. It compiles and runs on a wide variety of UNIX platforms, Windows and MacOS.

Python is a general-purpose and versatile programming language. It’s a great first language because it’s concise and easy to read.

MatLab is a programming and numeric computing platform developed by MathWorks. It is used to analyze data, develop algorithms, and create models.

SPSS is software for editing and analyzing data. It is owned by IBM and officially named IBM SPSS Statistics.
