Starting in the fall of 2025, the Libraries will be creating a series of bookmarks intended to help music students find scores more easily in Charles Library. Each bookmark will be devoted to a different instrument and contain information to help you learn how to browse the stacks for music written or arranged for specific instrumentation and ensembles.
The first 4 bookmarks, released in late August, are for voice, violin, viola, and cello. Stay tuned for the rest of the bookmarks, which will be released over the coming year!
How can I get my hands on a bookmark? Stop by Library Office Hours on Tuesdays from 12pm-1:30pm at the Presser 1st floor information kiosk or ask your studio teacher if they have picked up their supply.
What if my instrument's bookmark hasn't been released yet? Check out "Expanded Call Numbers for Browsing" as I add new instruments to keep you busy and browsing until you get your own bookmark.
Interested in learning how to browse Library Search using call numbers to discover music not located in the Stacks? Need help learning to read call numbers? Explore this guide for answers to many of your questions, and contact me using the information in the profile box with any questions!
Happy browsing!
