Literature Types

Peer reviewed manuscripts - the final version of a peer-reviewed article accepted for journal publication. Includes graphics, pagination, and publisher icons.

Preprint - a complete and publicly available, but unreviewed, version of an article or scientific document.  

Research articles - a report on data generated by original research.

Review articles - a report on other articles, identifying gaps in current research and suggesting new directions. 

News pieces - a popular (not scholarly) article which has been through a fact-checking process, depending on the reliability of the source.
