Additional Security Search Tools (reports, papers)

Another source of security publications are reports and papers from government agencies and think tanks. These fall into a category called "grey literature" which is different than academic publishing but usually follow high quality editing before being released. The search tools below cover these.

Annual Reviews Online This link opens in a new window
Click on "Home" to bring up the search bar. Annual Reviews Online provides research literature in various disciplines within the Biomedical, Physical, and Social Sciences. The articles tend to be "big picture" reviews of how a topic has been researched, but are useful in seeing how research is related and grouped.

CQ Researcher - Defense and National Security Reports
CQ Researcher provides reports written by journalists, footnoted and fact-checked. Full-length articles include an overview, historical background, chronology, pro/con feature, plus resources for additional research. Graphics, photos and short "sidebar" features round out the reports.

JSTOR Security Studies This link opens in a new window
JSTOR Security Studies offers journals, ebooks, and approximately 20,000 Open Access research reports. This content looks at security studies through a broad lens, encompassing research on international security and peace and conflict studies from all corners of the globe.

Security Issues Online delves into conflicts, policies, and relationships that have impacted the global arena throughout modern history. This collection includes video and printed materials (personal papers, organizations, government documents, journals, reports, monographs, and speeches).

You may need to register as having academic affiliation to view some documents. Homeland Security Digital Library provides access to U.S. policy documents, presidential directives, and national strategy documents as well as resources, such as dissertations, reports and position papers from universities, research institutions.
