The Instituto Cervantes de Tokio is an institution dedicated to teaching Spanish and promoting the culture of Spain and Spanish-speaking countries. Their Federico García Lorca Biblioteca holds more than 21,000 Spanish-language books and is open to the public. To borrow items, a library card with an annual subscription must be registered.
The Goethe-Institut Tokyo is an institution dedicated to teaching German and conducting a cultural dialogue between Germany and Japan. Their Bibliothek Tokyo holds a large collection of German-language books and is open to the public. A library card is free but registration before borrowing is required.
The Institut Français is an institution dedicated to teaching French and promoting French culture. Its Médiathèque is a library with more than 17,000 titles including literary and contemporary classics, comics, children's books and periodicals. The space is open to the public, and anyone who wishes to borrow items can register a library card with a monthly subscription.
The Pride House Tokyo Legacy center has a library and archives with about 600 books, including academic books, practical books, novels, autobiographies of famous people, comics, picture books, and magazines related to LGBTQ, gender, and sexuality. Books and magazines can be read for free at the center, but cannot be borrowed and taken home.
