Search for Articles on a Specific Topic - Core Databases for Nursing

Use these tips when you search for articles on a topic:

1. Start with a question

2. Identify key concepts in your question

3. Search for articles on each concept separately

  • Search using both Subject Headings and Keywords (words an author would use in a title or abstract of an article)

4. Combine searches using AND or OR

  •  AND retrieves articles that discuss all of your keywords/topics in the same article
  •  OR retrieves articles that discuss 1 or more of your terms/topics in the same article
