Statistics and Data for Health

The NCHS is a portal for a variety of different vital statistics and demographics on the US, including information on births, deaths, aging, nutrition, immunication, and many other areas of health data. Look under Data Collection Systems, Programs, Data and Tools, and other areas of the site for specific data portals or reports. Contact the library for help in finding specific data.

From the NCHS, National Vital Statistics Reports (NVSR) are regular issues from the National Vital Statistics System (NVSS) that cover provisional birth, death, marriage, and divorce statistics

CDC Wonder offers demographic statistics for the US, including births, deaths, and for certain conditions and diseases like AIDS and cancer.

WISQARS provides data on injuries in the US, broken up by fatal and nonfatal injuries, and the cost of injuries. There are additional subcategories, for instance Fatal Injuries has a separate portal for violent fatal injuries.

The VA data portal provides access to data about healthcare provided to US veterans by the VA health system.

Part of the US Dept. of Health and Human Services that compiles statistics on health and minority groups in the US.

PolicyMap compiles demographic statistics, including health data, and allows users to use that data to build maps and visualizations.

These Community Mobility Reports aimed to provide insights into what changed in response to policies aimed at combating COVID-19. The reports charted movement trends over time by geography, across different categories of places such as retail and recreation, groceries and pharmacies, parks, transit stations, workplaces, and residential. Data is no longer being updated as of 2022-10-15. All historical data will remain publicly available.
