Why Visual Aids?

Question: What value lies in incorporating visual aids in your work?

Answer: Visual aids can clarify information for the audience and help you focus on the topic at hand.

Visual aids make your paper/project/presentation a little more interesting for the audience; they break up the monotony. Visual aids can also help you as a presenter feel more at ease and help you when you're drawing a blank.

Find Images

Openverse
Search for Creative Commons licensed and public domain content from a variety of sites, including Flickr, Wikimedia Commons, and museums around the world.
The Gender Spectrum Collection: Stock Photos Beyond the Binary
Contains Creative Commons licensed stock photos of trans and non-binary models that go beyond the clichés.
Nappy
Contains photos of people of color in various settings and activities. Photos are licensed under Creative Commons’ public domain license (CC0).
Images of Empowerment
Contains images showing the connection between women’s work, their health, and ability to care for themselves and their families in from countries around the world.
Disabled and Here
Contains disability-led stock image and interview series celebrating disabled Black, Indigenous, people of color (BIPOC).

Search for images. On the results page, go to tools > usage rights, and then select different licenses.
Multicolor Search by TinEye
Use this tool to find Creative Commons licensed and public domain images in Flickr that contain certain colors; create a palette of up to five colors to search.
Pixabay
Pixabay has images, video, illustrations and vector graphics that are made available under the Pixabay license. You can use the content for free, for commerical and non-commerical projects, and attribution is not required, but encouraged.

Free, high resolution images that do not require permission to use. Attribution is not required but encouraged.

Contains a variety of images from America's libraries, archives, and museums, organized by subject and/or theme.

Contains curated, Creative Commons licensed icons.
