The Welcoming Center:
Goal:
Equip The Welcoming Center staff with research, analysis, and recommendations to improve their unique national model of the Immigrant Leadership Institute as well as TWC’s three other program areas: work readiness, entrepreneurship, and English speakers of other languages.
Problem Definition and Project Summary:
In Philadelphia and across the country, immigrants often fear interactions with government agencies, not only when it comes to seeking necessary public assistance but also when advocating for their communities. The Welcoming Center’s (TWC) Immigrant Leadership Institute (ILI) is a unique answer to this problem in Philadelphia. However, the Welcoming Center lacks the bandwidth to produce extensive research and analysis, and programs similar to TWC’s ILI are not common in the United States.
