Cite Data

The basic components of a dataset citation are similar to citing publications:

Creator (Publication Year). Title. Version. Publisher. Identifier

  • Creator(s) - a person, organization, government agency
  • Title - name given to the dataset or study
  • Publication Year - the date when the dataset was made available
  • Publisher - the data center or repository providing access to the data
  • Version - the edition or version number, if appropriate
  • Identifier - URL, DOI, or other location information for the data
