The developer of QualCoder demonstrates how to use QualCoder 3.5, and the instructions are applicable for newer versions.
QualCoder 3.6 has AI assisted coding and AI chat. You can now organize codes in graph, run code co-occurrence and code by text segments reports, and automatically code survey answers to a code and link them to individual respondents. Temple Libraries QualCoder Spring 2025 Workshops explored these new features.
QualCoder 3.7 has more models for AI Integration. New features include saving your column and row settings and attributes filters and reloading them. Learn more about QualCoder 3.7 new features.
The GIF demonstrates how to set up the AI Integration for Ollama Local AI in QualCoder 3.7. Download Steps for using llama3.1 with QualCoder 3.7.
This video demonstrates how to uninstall QualCoder 3.6 and install QualCoder 3.7 for Windows. For enabling AI with Blablador, and installing VLC media player to view and code audio and videos, view those segments in Project, File and Data Management with QualCoder. See QualCoder AI Integration section above for enabling a local AI model.

These videos are Spring 2025 workshop recordings or are tutorials for the workshops. Please note that changes may have been made to QualCoder with newer versions since the videos were made.
This video demonstrates how to install and launch the free QualCoder qualitative data analysis software, enable AI integration, and manage qualitative data projects, files and data. Since the video was made, QualCoder 3.6 has been released.
When you have different data, you want to be able to link them to the same cases. In QualCoder 3.5 and earlier versions, QualCoder UNIQUE case constraint prevents the import of surveys with case names that already exist in the project. This video demo, using the pre-released QualCoder v. 3.6, suggests one way to address this problem. Since the video was made, the developer has removed the UNIQUE constraint for case name in survey import in the to be released version 3.6. A warning stills appear, but the survey will be imported. Column headers (attributes) and values do not replace existing headers but additional column headers and values will be added.
This video demonstrates how to change a code color as you code. It also goes over changing a category of color with Colour Scheme and viewing color from different color blindness perspectives. QualCoder 3.6 has a color palette icon in Coding menus to allow you to select the default color for new codes.
This video shows how to export a reference from Zotero and import it into QualCoder. Qualcoder does not import the abstract as a separate file so the video shows three way to create a file or memo.
Besides the three ways shown in the video on importing references, you can also import the RIS file in Manage Files and use autocode by start and end marks (the fourth magic wand) to auto code all abstract to a code. Enter AB - in first box (start) and DA - in second box (end).
